English Goals is an innovative English language course for lower secondary school students (11-15 y/o) in four levels. The syllabus aims to develop language skills and knowledge as defined by the Council of Europe in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), taking students to B1 level of competences over the course of four years.
English Goals has a communicative and fully inclusive approach to language teaching and is designed specifically to motivate and engage students. Stimulating texts and activities help develop life skills such as critical thinking, creative thinking and effective communication.

Structure
The Student’s Book includes a starter/revision unit and 8 units of 12 pages, each following a regular pattern:
• 2 opening pages, introducing the topic and presenting the unit vocabulary (with Vocabulary videos).
• 2 pages, Reading, which present a text with reading comprehension activities, grammar boxes and various activities that develop speaking and listening skills.
• 2 pages, Dialogue work, which present entertaining episodes that follow the narrative thread of a story based on situations relevant to this age group, with reading comprehension activities, grammar boxes and various activities that develop speaking and listening skills.
• 3 pages devoted to grammar study, with rules and exercises, and a pronunciation activity at the end of the section.
• a page devoted to developing language functions, through an engaging video and oral comprehension and production activities.
• 2 pages of language skills, with activities testing the four learning skills (reading comprehension, listening, speaking and writing), plus a final mediation task (only in levels 3-4).
• 2 pages of Progress check every two units, testing the main grammar, vocabulary and language topics. Following the 8 units: • Simple Goals – Let’s All Revise section • Pronunciation workshop (levels 1 and 2). Culture section (levels 3 and 4).
Teacher’s Book
The Teacher’s Book contains all the solutions to the exercises, and the audio and videoscripts for the Student’s Book & Workbook, as well as additional notes on teaching, culture, flipped classroom pathways and inclusivity. It also includes tests and resources for extra activities.
